I mean, give writers Jason Sherman and Kate Melville points for finding a way to shoehorn the Cinderella lost-slipper gag into the screenplay. But then take those points away for the very same reason.

Doubleday is a game gamine, and as the wicked stepsisters Hopkins and Krill manage to steal some scenes and win some laughs. Certainly, they help compensate for the film's witty/helpful/catty gay characters.
